Phentermine is a drug often prescribed for people that need to lose a lot of their excessive weight to avoid the risk of developing high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes. Patients using phentermine must combine the treatment with a healthier diet and regular exercise, as otherwise phentermine is not going to be as efficient for them as intended. Patients younger than 16 are not supposed to start taking phentermine without previously talking to their health care provider. Make sure you let or doctor know if you have anxiety disorder, seizure disorder, glaucoma, a history of drug or alcohol abuse, arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, or problems with your thyroid, as any of these medical conditions may affect the dose you are prescribed. Always take as much of this medicine as prescribed – the usual way of taking phentermine is three times a day about 30 minutes before having a meal. If you take more than prescribed such overdose symptoms as diarrhea, confusion, seizure, irregular heartbeat, hallucinations, tremors, vomiting, stomach pain, confusion, aggressiveness, and nausea are possible. Feeling anxious, chest pain, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, headache, itching and some other symptoms are possible mild side effects that go away on their own in most cases.
